Rotterdam Daily Photo: Streetlights from space
Finally a new picture on the blog! One of the new streetlights on the Coolsingel. This mainstreet had a total makeover. A car lane has been removed and there is much more space for cyclists and pedestrians. In addition, these new street lamps have been installed. A bit 1930s style and of course energy efficient 🙂

Saturday market, groceries for the sunday
Every weekend on saturday there’s the Rotterdam Center Market at the Binnenrotte. The place used to be part of the river Rotte, but drained in 1871 for the construction of the railway viaduct on the Rotterdam-Dordrecht line. The viaduct was demolished after the construction of the Willemsspoor tunnel in 1993. Since then, the Binnenrotte has been a large open space, the Binnenrotteplein, that is used on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and during part of the year also on Sundays, by the Rotterdam Center Market, a general commodity market with more than 450 stalls. But now all groceries have been eaten again and we are heading towards Monday and again, until then!

A weekend vibe, train travel
Another photo that has to do with my journey south (and the last one, I promise). Is it Rotterdam? Not strictly but it is taken on the train traveling from Rotterdam with a view on the passing landscape, the outskirts of the city. The light of fall, the tranquility of Sunday. Yes! The weekend started today but the weather didn’t feel like it belonged to the weekend! Rain, rain and a bit of rain and the weather forecast for saturday and sunday aren’t better. But a few days off is a good prospect, so have a good weekend!
