Unfortunately I could not make a recording of the day this theme day. Therefore also this time one from archive. Made in 2019 with a film camera, the Nikon F50. It is the Pompenburg park, small but nice. See the shadows of two people? One of them is me!

May 1st, 2020, theme day “Shopping”
I admit it, I completely forgot that it was a theme day … So here is a “shopping photo” from the archive … A closed barber shop. Appropriately I think “Who’s next”!
P.S. I shot this picture in 2007, location Hillesluis.
February 1st, 2020, theme day “Streetscape”
Yeah! today is February 1st and it’s a theme day! Today’s theme is… Streetscapes! I’ve chosen the Waterplein (or Water squere). The second water square in the world has been realized on the Benthemplein in Rotterdam. It took almost seven years to develop the water square idea into the final design. The Rotterdam water square is located between the three buildings of the Technikon complex which houses, among other things, the Zadkine College, the Grafisch Lyceum and the Hofpleintheater.
How it works: The design consists of three basins that collect rainwater: two shallow basins get the water when it rains from the immediate area, a deeper basin only gets water if it keeps raining consistently. The water runs through large shiny gutters across the square to two shallow basins where it collects. The areas that can overflow are painted in the blue colors. In the event of drought, the basins can be used as a sports field or theater and due to the differences in height, they offer plenty of room to sit. Benthemplein has green areas with grasses, flowers and trees. Here another view >>

January 1st, 2020, theme day “Photo of the year”
Its themeday again and traditional january 1st the best picture of the previous year is shown. For 2019 is this my choice. It shows Museum Rotterdam, museum of the city! Not only do I have fond memories of visiting this museum but also the museum asked for permission to use the picture themselves! Shown on their instagram account did it make me proud of myself 🙂 Happy New Year everyone!

December 1st theme day “Rainbow”
It’s december 1st! Themeday again of the City Daily Photo community! First on my mind for this theme was the pedestrian crossing in our (shopping) center of the city at Churchillplein. In 2015 they painted a rainbow crossing beside the ordinary crossing to draw attention to sexual diversity in Rotterdam. The unveiling of the pedestrian crossing coincided with the Rotterdam Pride in September of that year. Unfortunately, there are now many works on the square and the shine is a bit off! But who doesn’t want to go “Over the rainbow” now!
Rotterdam is one of the 41 Rainbow municipalities and the fourth city in the Netherlands that received such a pedestrian crossing after Utrecht, Maastricht and Tilburg. The rainbow crosswalk is a worldwide initiative. There is one in Sidney and Brighton, among others.
November 1st theme day “Brown”
First of the month again and themeday again! Theme is “brown” so the last days I was scanning for a photo op with a brownish je ne sais quoi… And the photo op occurred when I traveled by train to another beautiful town here in the Netherlands – Maastricht… Our brown travelbags on the brown bench in the great hall of Rotterdam Centraal, the mainhub for trains to all directions of the Netherlands! I was on my way to horizons and the picture to the world by means of my blog!
October 1st theme day “Orange”
And its the first of the month, themeday for CDP! And the october theme is orange. And while walking the dog nearby our house I spotted this delivery boy of “Thuisbezorgd” the local delivery service for food delivery ordered online with one of the many participating restaurants. And is it orange or not! 😉
