A daily dose of Rotterdam since august 2019
I photographed this storefront while traveling by tram. Located on Schiedamseweg, close to Delfshaven, you will still find an old facade of the De Gruyter retail chain here. Founded in 1818 (!) And overtaken by time and new trends in 1971. Other retail chains tried to save it but it was to late … Tomorrow is Monday again, a new week with new photo opportunities! Have fun!
Walking to work my “photographers eye” caught this curtain lady! In the shop window of a curtain shop. And certainly dressed for the holidays she liked to pose but for privacy reasons her face is obscured! Do you want to meet this Rotterdam lady? She resides at the Oostzeedijk Beneden!
This is not someone who wishes everybody love for Rotterdam but a shopsign on the central station of Rotterdam! This shop sells all kind of stuff connected to or with Rotterdam, hats, calendars etc. you name it! No advertising just a tip for visitors! And the most valuable of Rotterdam is unfortunately not for sale, myself! 🙂
Yesterday evening we walked along the old railroad line Rotterdam – Den Haag en passed a old shop being renovated. The sunsets beautiful light through the shopwindows did show a shadow of the shops name; City of Rotterdam! How a coincidence was that! Nothing special about this picture but I like it! Have a great saturday!
